LA CAGE AUX FOLLES
La Cage aux Folles is a musical comedy about Georges and Albin, a longtime couple who run a drag nightclub in Saint-Tropez, whose lives are thrown into chaos when Georges’s son announces his engagement to the daughter of a conservative politician. To keep the peace, the flamboyant club is temporarily toned down—disastrously so—forcing everyone to confront questions of identity, family, and acceptance. At its heart, the show celebrates love, authenticity, and the courage to be yourself, famously captured in the anthem “I Am What I Am.”
July 31 - August 29 / Ray of Light Theatre / The Barbary Stage / San Francisco, CA
URINETOWN
Winner of three Tony Awards, Urinetown: The Musical is a bold, irreverent comedy that skewers politics, greed, and corporate control—all wrapped in the guise of a wildly entertaining musical. In a future where a devastating drought has made private toilets illegal, citizens must pay to pee at government-run facilities controlled by the ruthless Urine Good Company.
Enter Bobby Strong, a charismatic rebel who dares to challenge the system and fight for the people’s right to free relief. Alongside the idealistic Hope Cladwell, daughter of the company’s CEO, Bobby sparks a revolution that asks big questions about power, justice, and what happens when profit comes before people. With show-stopping numbers, outrageous characters, and constant fourth-wall breaks, Urinetown is both a loving parody of musical theatre and a sharp social commentary.
Brilliantly funny and unexpectedly smart, Urinetown proves that even the silliest premise can deliver a powerful message. Come for the laughs, stay for the satire—and prepare to be shocked by how relevant this “pee musical” really is.
